Another great way to figure out search engines? Look at your competitors' sites. Look first at your competitors' inbound links. This means the number of sites that have a link pointing to their website. Measure this by going to Google and typing: "link://www.thenameofyourbiggestcompetitor.com". Also do the same thing with Yahoo and MSN. Where do these links come from? Is there a pattern? Avoid the urge to use services that offer robotic content creation. These services generate thousands of links pointing back to your site. Most of the search engines will penalize this behavoir. Next, look at their content strategies...How much fresh content do these sites have? Search engines love quality content that is added and updated frequently. The top sites in your market probably have articles, press releases, "how-to" documents and whitepapers. You'll also notice new content is added continuously. People that use the web are searching for information. If you want to attract prospects to your site, then you need to make sure that you provide enough information that is relevant to their search. Updating your site often with useful information will keep visitors coming back. What do you do nöw? Get out there and start getting inbound links for your site. Add quality content to your site daily. Continue to do this every day and you will elevate your search engine rankings quickly. |
